Cooper East

Cooper Church, consisting of a handful of eight adults and a couple of kids, joined forces with Neighborhood Church in 2011. After growing to 22 adults and almost as many kids, we decided to start out 2016 in smaller groups. The whole group still gathers at least once a month, either for a grown-ups dinner or for family fellowship time. Throughout the years, we’ve enjoyed serving together at HopeWorks as GED tutors, faith encouragers, and lunch providers. We also have strong connections with The Soulsville Charter School, and several of our members are also currently on a Good Neighbor Team, working with a Somali family who have recently been resettled to Memphis.

Cooper East is a small group of young families who live east of the Parkways. We meet most Thursday evenings at 6:30pm in different home for study as well as having family worship and fellowship (generally accompanied by Gibson’s donuts) on Sunday mornings once monthly.

Cooper East seeks to find God’s direction and grace as we navigate the “survival mode” inherent in raising a plethora of spirited young people alongside advancing careers, caring for aging parents, and continuing educations. We value a diversity of thought and life experience as we strive to serve, learn, and love.
