What can I expect when I drop off my child in KidsPlace?
You will find a simple and secure sign-in/sign-out procedure. Each of the KidsPlace classrooms are a welcoming, warm and worshipful environment. The rooms are clean and safe, as we adhere to strict policies regarding wellness and safety. We provide age appropriate activities and toys in each room. And each of our caring volunteers are screened, interviewed and trained.
How old does my child have to be to start attending KidsPlace?
Our recommendation is that your child is at least six weeks old prior to bringing him or her to the KidsPlace Nursery.
Where is the KidsPlace Registration?
KidsPlace registration is located at the entrance to the KidsPlace room.
What do I need to bring with my child?
For infants and toddlers, we recommend parents bring a diaper bag and bottle, both labeled with your child's name. Please feel welcome to bring any comfort items your child might have such as a blanket or favorite toy. You will also want to bring a change of clothes for your child just in case it is needed.
How will you contact me if my child needs me?
If your child becomes inconsolable or unwell, a KidsPlace volunteer will discretely come to the worship gathering and let you know. With so many kids and so many parents present we are used to interuptions, surprises, and have learned to expect the unexpected.
How does Neighborhood Church keep parents involved in their child's experience at church?
Each week when you pick up your child, your child's teacher will hand you a parent flyer. This flyer has a summary of what your child learned during the worship service, as well as some ideas for how to incorporate that week's lesson into your child's daily life.
We believe the best way for parents to be involved in what their child is learning is to become a part of the team that teaches your child. Each week, volunteers do everything from greeting families to teaching and leading kids in worship.
How can I volunteer in KidsPlace?
There are many positions available where you can serve. These include greeting families, teaching, co-teaching, being a part of one of our set-up/tear down teams and many more. For more information on how you can be involved, ask for a volunteer application or see a KidsPlace volunteer at the Registration Table.
Does Neighborhood Church have a Wellness Policy?
Yes. KidsPlace is staffed with loving individuals who share our vision for the health and safety of your child. Each person has been carefully screened and trained in the following precautions:
- Wearing latex gloves for every diaper change
- Disinfecting the diaper changing station after every diaper change
- Washing hands frequently
- Carefully cleaning and disinfecting all toys and cribs
Please do not bring an ill child to church. If you are in doubt about your child's health, please remain at home with him or her. The following symptoms are good guidelines for deciding if your child needs to stay at home: mucus from the nose, fever, cough, any skin infection, rash, diarrhea or pink eye.
We adhere to these guidelines for the protection of all the children and teachers - we always regret having to turn away an ill child. Thank you for understanding why these precautions are sometimes necessary.
Does Neighborhood Church have a Safety Policy?
Yes. Your child's safety is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, we have taken several steps to ensure that:
- A minimum of two adults is always present in the classroom.
- Diapers are changed in the classroom in view of the other teachers.
- Our security system is strictly enforced.
- Parents are contacted via the security number if a child is inconsolable.
What is Neighborhood Church doing in the meantime in preparation for the opening of Neighborhood Kids (6-11 year olds)?
Currently, the children remain in the worship service with their parents. They have an opportunity to enjoy praise and worship with their parents. During the message, a Children's Worship Bulletin which is also linked to the sermon's theme is given to our children for coloring and solving puzzles and word-finds.
Neighborhood Kids is in the planning phase and will open as soon as sufficient volunteers are identified, screened and trained.
