Inward Journey

Let me give you a new command; love one another. In the same way I love you, you love one another. This is how others will recognize you are my followers-when you love one another.

Jesus, in the Gospel according to John 13:34-35

The Inward Journey is one of community. God never intended for us to live life alone or to live out his purposes for us in isolation. We are not meant to simply believe; we are also meant to belong. Since God is love, he treasures relationships and wants us to learn how to love others. This runs counter to our self-centered nature. God desires this from us because he wants his followers to be known for love more than anything else. He taught that we will be evaluated on the quality of our love (Matthew 25:40).

Therefore, we desire to be a people who are authentic, not self-important, who have no pretense when it comes to life. Genuine relationships happen when we get honest about who we are and what's happening in us and to us. We want to individually and corporately experience relationships that are truthful, merciful, sympathetic, generous and committed. As we each give ourselves to this endeavor we hope that our family, friends and city are transformed.
