History
Neighborhood Church started as a dream in the hearts of two couples in California. Jason & Barb Elder met Robert & Mandy Grisham while in seminary in 2001. Soon after meeting, their conversations began drifting towards the idea of one day starting a church together. Little did they know that their dream would become a reality...in Memphis, TN., 2,700 miles away!
In June, 2005, while celebrating the birth of Robert and Mandy's son, Adam, the
topic was brought back up. Seven months later the Grisham's were in Memphis.
The Elder's followed six months later.
Both couples immediately felt drawn to the
Cooper-Young neighborhood. They immediately got involved with the neighborhood
association and began making friends within the community. In January, 2006,
they hosted a series of interest meetings, and the core group of Neighborhood
Church was formed.
